TECHNIQUE; SUB-PRINCIPLE: Techniques vs. Technique_

The goal of many martial art enthusiasts is the accumulation of things martial art, i.e., many techniques, many black belts, many trophies, many kata, many bunkai and so on. They pride themselves and base their proficiency and expertise on knowing more techniques and variations of techniques, the differing strike combinations, joint locks, throws, holds, etc. They all assume that a collection or quantity of such things makes a master of the martial arts when in reality it is more about quality than quantity.

In reality it is more about leaning what truly makes any given method work. In this case it is about the application of fundamental principles of martial systems. It comes down to finding the quality of a motion rather than the quantity of their variations. 

This is not to say that learning those variations under quantity is not beneficial because they are so it comes down to the distinctions. The various ways and variations contribute to the principles and sub-principles for understanding with the addition of body coordination and a general understanding of the arts, styles and/or systems. 

It is about understanding all methodologies function from the same principles or that styles and systems of martial discipline tend to work the same from the same principles.
